Road trip. Day 1.

We leave Adelaide and head for Melbourne. Our first stop at a river (I don't remember the name and I don't want to wake up my friends to find out what it was).
We've made  hundreds of kilometres and almost the same amount of pictures in a week, but I'll try to post some of them.
We are leaving  for Flinders Ranges  (one can grasp the essence of Australia there, they say) tomorrow. It's sort of a desert. So, I won't be posting anything for a few days again. It can be we will drive straight down to the coast again without hitting Adelaide.

A drying out lake, with a bed of pink salt. It was cold then. But we had no idea just how cold it can get in SA in late spring!
We arrive to Coorong National Park (which is located on a peninsula , very similar to the Curonian spit in Lithuania) on the evening of the first day. It's very windy and rather chilly.
I had no idea that The Black Swan (Cygnus atratus)breeds in South Australia and can be seen in huge flocks in salty water.

You can tell that the conditions are harsh here-all the plants are short.
A footprint of an emu on the beach sand. We saw few of them later. There were chicks among them!

 The wonderful succulents.
 Heaps of tiny tiny shells.
A flattened skink. I think it's the same kind I wrote about earlier :-(
 A succulent I suspect...
The lizards come out when it's sunny and the millipedes emerge when it's dark. It must have been dusk then.
We found meters and meters of these rolled up under our tent the next morning.

We have been putting up our camp near or under bird nests for a few times. By accident, of course.
This is a fan tail. The nest was funny because of it's miniature size, shape and the way it was glued and on a branch and swinging in the wind. Hard wind...
